Miss your chance to vote in the last GE?
Want to see a change in school?

Unhappy about the ways things are running here?

Be part of the SDE's future by deciding who will be in the next MC!

The Pub Press team catches up with what are our candidates' vision for the coming new term!

Here're their thoughts...

"My vision for Publicity Cell is to provide information for the students of the Faculty in any upcoming events through various channels. From the events, the photos taken will be uploaded to an official DE Club website for the students to browse and save these photos as well. With an officially launch DE Club website, embedded with blogging session and forum dialog, students do not need to navigate several sites to obtain any club activities. Through forum session, there will be interactives which bond the students. By having this official website, all the events, archieves, blogs and contact information can be found within a click. "

- Fan Yongda
Running for Vice Publicity and Publication Director

"My vision for publicity cell would be to update SDE students on the various SDE events and to engage them with the events through the use of posters, banners, photos taken during the events, etc. I also hope that the publicity cell could continue to make full use of the DE club notice boards and blog to publicise and also provide updates on SDE events. Since the DE club blog is set up not long ago, I hope that the publicity cell could continue to publicise it and increase its awareness in SDE."

- Lee Mei Hong
Running for Publicity and Publication Director

I have 3 visions for the club to attain:
1). Bridge the wide gap between the lecturers, tutors and students.

2). Change the concept of just studying into a place where we live, work and play.

3). Develop a sense of belonging to the faculty.

Running for Welfare Director

What the presidency means to me?
DE Club has given so much to me the moment I entered SDE. From the Freshmen Camp ’07 to SDE rag ’07 all the way till now. Having partaken in so many of the activities organized by DE Club, I feel that it is important to keep this tradition and culture of SDE alive. Being the President of DE Club would put me in a prime position to help improve the Club for the betterment of the students in SDE. To be president means to serve the student body of SDE to the best of my ability and to contribute to the continual improvement of DE Club with regards to the running of events and the management of the club.

Vision for DE Club
A 3-pronged approach for DE Club, all of which would tie in together for one common objective:

To promote and elevate the social ties and bonds among SDE students

The ultimate goal of DE Club is to build such a vibrant and lively community within SDE that the school actually becomes a second home to our students, a place where SDE students can proudly say “I’ve returned home” when they step onto SDE grounds. Because SDE is such a small faculty, we hope to create a place where every student knows every student. This will not only help them enjoy their stay in SDE but also build networks for the students which will eventually help them when they step into the workforce.

1st Approach
To run social events such as SDE Bash, Halloween Night, Night-Cycling, Movie Screenings, CNY dinner, Beach Day, sports events, SDE Day, etc. The aim of all these events is for SDE students to gather and interact with each other, thereby strengthening their bonds.

2nd Approach
Set up a Business Development Cell to ensure that DE Club has a continual stream of income to supplement its various activities. The Business Development Cell would be under the Business Development Director and would be split into two sub-cells. The first one would be the sponsorship cell, which would go around sourcing for various sponsorships, be it cash or products. The other sub-cell would be the investments cell. The investments cell would use seed money to invest and build multiple streams of passive income for DE Club.

3rd Approach
Set up Freshmen Orientation Projects Cell under the direction of the Freshmen Orientation Projects Director (FOPD). The FOPD will be in-charge of the overseeing of the SDE Freshmen Camp and SDE Rag & Flag. The FOPD will report directly to the President of the DE Club. The role of the FOPD would be to ensure that both projects are run smoothly and to provide a venue for advice and feedback for the two project directors. The Freshmen Orientation Projects are important major events for DE Club because they welcome the incoming group of freshmen to SDE and we want to bring these incoming freshmen into the SDE family the moment they step
in.
