17th Dec – MC Retreat

Gathering at Costa Sands (Pasir Ris) lounge first to await check in at 12pm. The MC members were then tasked to design their individual drawing block about their aims and vision for DE club. In the chalet, everyone then starts pasting post-its on the drawing blocks giving one another compliments and encouragement.

At about 2pm, Project BrainStorm I starts. It is an activity whereby we brainstormed ideas on mah-jong sheets for DE club events. Hopefully, the PDs can use these ideas to facilitate their planning.

Heartfelt session began at 5pm. A beneficial session whereby the MC gathered around to talk about their flaws and areas of improvement. The setting was purposely made dark and gloomy. Only the one who has the light stick provided can speak and the rest will listen. The activity was educating and enlightening. We learned from our mistakes as well as from others.
Dinner next and we went Downtown East Food Court to have chicken rice. To our disappointment, the chicken rice business was so good that we could only have the last 2 plates.
Back in chalet and it’s Project BrainStorm II (i.e. work...). The real fun starts after this. PS2 and Ernest’s laptop (Counter-strike) provided the initial entertainment. At about 12am, we gathered around to play Polar Bear. Scheming, exciting and fun is what this game is about. We became addicted to it and kept playing till 3am unknowingly. After that, it’s bedtime.

ZZZzzz...

18th Dec

Slept till 11am and we were briefed by Natasha about the day’s events and games. At about 12am, De Clubs Members started coming in. We proceeded on to the park for our games after 2pm. There was a slight drizzle but it did not dampen our spirits as we carried on to play the games.

The 1st set of games was a variety of tasks: passing polo sweets with a toothpick in mouth, passing balloons, memorising numbers, human pyramid and eating a potato chip placed on the forehead (no hands allowed). The team who complete these tasks the fastest wins.

The 2nd set of games was the Human Caterpillar. DE members were blindfolded and lined up in a straight line with their hands on the shoulders in front. Then, they had to move through various obstacles like muddy grounds, trees and even BBQ pits. Some of them even got themselves muddy. After the members ended their “ordeal”, they decided to take revenge on the MC members since the MC did not take part in this game. Ernest (the president) was “kidnapped” first and blindfolded. The rest of the MC then had to follow. The MC caterpillar was then made to go through the same ordeal, perhaps even worse.

The 3rd set of games was Dodge Sponge. Same rules as dodge ball with a few twists using sponges. It was soaking wet fun as 2 teams hit each other with the wet sponges.
The final set of games was simply collecting eggs. Not as easy as it sounds though. 2 couples were “sabohed” by their respective teams to pick eggs on the ground. The catch was the couples are blindfolded and both their hands and feet are tied together. In the given area, the couples were to pick up as many eggs as possible. The team members who were situated outside the area had to instruct and aid the couples. Of course, shouting and yelling of instructions were the climax of the game. Some team members even went over the other team to give misleading instructions. After the games, BBQ started at about 6pm. Midway through the evening, we started playing Polar Bear again (it’s addictive). Booze, food, laughter, games and fun ended with the night. Many thanks to the organisers. Great Job!~
