Hey guys and gals~~ It's time for our event updates again! =D It was our much awaited DE Club Retreat at Goldkist Resort last week~ We tried new games that filled our whole afternoon with FuN~ hehe. Here are the photos~!! (Get ready for a mini photo marathon~! =D )

SDE First Event After the examinations: SDE Beach Bash!!
It was a fun-filled day with beach games accompanied by the sand and the sea. Well, though the weather was not good that day, I am sure those who attended the beach bash still had lots of fun!! =) A good opportunity for us to mingle and let out all the stress that we previously had during the examination period. We even had friends from medicine to join in the fun! ^^

Movie Under the Stars Commenced 21 Oct 2008!
First of all, we have to clean up the place at the secret garden. “planted” with alot of extension wires around so that we are about to run on double screen, like those in the concert. =D one on screen and the other on the wall, with blasting sound systems! Also, we have to go up to the dusty storeroom to collect ALOT of cardboards so that the audience are able to sit on the grass and enjoy the movie. When we are ALMOST done….. it RAINED! So, we have no choice but to bring the event into the cinema-like lecture hall. Using 1 hour, we decorated the place as nicely as we could and set up the food stall outside of the lecture hall. And, as efficient members is DE club (:x), we managed to set up everything on time!
The crowd streamed in by 7pm. The movie, Mamma Mia, started at 715pm! After the movie was a little quiz which gives away a small packet of goodies. =) Congrats to winners! After the event, we had to pack up and keep the stuff back into the stores and to their respective places. Not forgetting after a tiring day of work to have a photo taking time!!

IFG : SDE SoCcEr TeAm

Hello everyone!
Below is the success story of our SDE IFG Soccer Team! They have brought glory to SDE by winning a silver medal for SDE! Thumbs up! ^^ Sorry for the long wait... but good things are worth the wait right?! =D Here goes the write up done by our dear IFG Soccer Team Manager, Jianming. ^^

The IFG was concluded recently and the soccer team is extremely proud to deliver some glory to our SDE family. I have been tasked by SDE publicity cell to do a write-up on the event and am certainly proud to share about our little journey.
Pre-Qualification: We were given a short notice of about 2 to 3 weeks to prepare for the tournament unlike previous years. Thankfully, the SDE soccer team spirit has remained strong and the core of the team from the previous year was quickly assembled and trials were organized to search for new blood.
Qualification: The squad assembled on Saturday at 8am while most people were still asleep. We had to negotiate through a tough group consisting of some traditional powerhouses in NUS as only the top 2 teams could qualify for the semi-finals. We drew our 1st 2 games and then lost 2-0 to a very strong Engine team, touted by many as the favourites. We were down but certainly not out. In our final game, we were up against an ARTS team that finished 4th previously. The tricky part was that we had to win 3-0 against them although we hadn’t scored a goal yet. Miraculously, goal after goal went in and we were through to the semi-finals! Scorers were Henry, Daniel and Terrence along with the support from the rest of the team.
Semi-finals: It was marked 1st by the ads about Singapore in the table tennis final. Many were wondering about the link but the reaction was mostly positive with a large SDE crowd turning up to support the team in the semi-final where we were up against Medicine, who had finished top in their group. We were quickly down 1-0 as the team settled. Before half-time, our captain, Royston scored an equalizer with a well-taken free-kick. In the 2nd half, we pushed hard and Andre got our winning goal having just come on for 5 minutes. We are in the final for the 1st time in 4 years!
Final Day: We were up against the strong Engine Team once again and the match was scheduled for about 12 noon. Unfortunately, we lost this final match and finished with silver. However, despite being a small faculty, we have punched above our weight to obtain glory for SDE. It has been an amazing journey for all participants. Special thanks to supporters who turned up and Sports Secretary, Jiaquan, for all the help rendered.
For all those sportsmen and sportswomen who have been lying dormant, do join the IFG to make new friends and indulge in the SDE spirit. It will stay with you for life.
